Friday: The Trials, Crucifixion and Burial

1. He speaks to the dying thief: “Today you will be with me in
2. He speaks to his mother, and the disciple who stands by her:
“Woman, behold, thy son! Behold, thy mother!”
3. He speaks to no one in particular: “I thirst."
4. He speaks to his father: “Father, forgive them; for they know not
what they do.”
5. “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?”
6. “It is finished.”
7. “Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit.”

One of my favorite passion hymns declares:

“It is finished!” Shall we raise songs of sorrow, or of praise?
Mourn to see the Savior die, or proclaim his victory?
Lamb of God! Your death has given pardon, peace, and hope of heaven.
“It is finished!” Let us raise songs  of thankfulness and praise.

God bless and keep you.
