The Synoptic Gospels agree that Jesus rested on Wednesday. Many believe that John’s chronology differs, but our Holy Week Readings have followed the Synoptic chronology and so shall we. However, though Jesus rested, we read the final portion of the Acts of Tuesday, and then look ahead to the Acts of Thursday.  

We have so much to choose from, including things like The Parable of the Sheep and Goats from Matthew 25, and other parables of the end time, when God will keep all his promises, and the Son of Man will be revealed in Glory.  I would lift up a very human story from Mark 12:41-44. Therein we read:

Jesus sat down opposite the treasury and watched the crowd putting
money into the treasury. Many rich people put in large sums. A poor
widow came and put in two small copper coins, which are worth a
penny.

Then he called his disciples and said to them, “Truly I tell you,
this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing
to the treasury. For all of them have contributed out of their
abundance; but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had,
all she had to live on.”

First Jesus saw what was good, he saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury. “Many rich people put in large sums.” This is most of us.  Then he saw what was better. “A poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which are worth a penny.” Jesus then called his disciples to himself and told them that the poor widow had put in more than anyone, because they had an abundance and contributed a portion of what they had whereas she gave “all she had, her whole living.” (Go to page 2 below.)
