Every now and then we encounter a succinct statement of truth that humbles us. I found such a statement his morning as I scanned the online edition of the New York Times. I read:

Early research shows that health care workers are more likely to contract the coronavirus than the average person and, when they get it, to suffer more severe symptoms. Many doctors are already rationing the protective gowns, gloves and masks that are necessary to keep them safe. They are also drawing up their wills.

Continue to pray for and support our health care workers. They are certainly heroes. We know that. Sometimes they are victims. We need to know that, too. It puts a whole new light on things.

Stay home as much as you can. It is not really such a burden for those of us who are retired. Self-isolate–that means no visits with the grandkids, except out of doors, at a safe distance. If we all do this for even two weeks, it will save lives, perhaps the life of a healthcare worker that you know.
