Advent is the season of the Church year that is filled with anticipation as we prepare for and await the Birth of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the World. The word Advent comes from a latin word that means “coming”. Yes, indeed we are awaiting the coming of the New Born King.
Just as we as individuals get ready for the coming, so does the Church community. At Fries we do many things from decorating the church with greenery, putting up the Advent wreath, placing candles in the windows, putting up our Putz (a nativity), singing the beloved Moravian Anthem “Hosanna, Blessed is He that comes, He that comes in the name of the Lord!” and how could one forget trimming candles and baking sugar cake (to name a few).
There is no better way to prepare for the coming of the our Lord than to gather with a church family and participate in the preparations. We invite you to join us! A few highlights of our activities over the next couple of weeks are:
